Our approach is not accidental — it is the product of deep conviction about what education should be and what it should produce. We believe that children thrive when learning is contextual, collaborative, and when they are plugged into a community.
At Kenzington Academy Microschool, we believe that education shouldn't be confined to a single grade level or curriculum. Led by highly qualified, licensed Colorado educators, our microschool blends the deep, integrated learning of unit studies with a station model to deliver small-group instruction while fostering executive functioning and independence in students. By pairing small-group structure with independent exploration, we foster a rich, collaborative community where students learn to mentor one another and develop a lifelong love for discovery.
In our multi-age classroom, students from Kindergarten through 12th grade explore big ideas together, with coursework scaffolded to their individual developmental level. Younger students find natural mentors, older students work on mastery and peer leadership, and high schoolers earn distinct, credit-worthy transcripts under professional educational advice.
As a program founded and taught by a licensed professional teacher with over 20 years experience in Colorado education, we offer the academic rigor and transcript confidence of a traditional private school, wrapped in the freedom and flexibility of the homeschool lifestyle.

A microschool is a small, intentional learning community — a modern reimagining of the one-room schoolhouse — designed to give every student the personalized attention and rigorous education they deserve.
Unlike traditional schools with classrooms of 25–30 students, microschools keep groups intentionally small — typically fewer than 15 students per teacher. This isn't a limitation; it's the whole point. Every student is known, seen, and taught as an individual.
Microschools often group students across grade levels, mirroring how learning happens in the real world. Older students develop leadership and mentorship skills; younger students are inspired and accelerated by their peers. At Kenzington Academy, K–12 students explore the same rich thematic units together, each at their own developmental level.
Microschools offer the structure and credentialing of a private school with the flexibility families love about homeschooling. Many families use microschools full-time, while others use them to supplement home education — both are equally valid and supported at Kenzington.
Microschools are not a lesser alternative to traditional education — they often exceed it. Led by credentialed, experienced educators, Kenzington Academy provides legal transcripts, college-preparatory coursework, and a documented academic record every bit as recognized as a traditional private school.
We're currently accepting applications for the upcoming school year across all grade levels. Seats are limited — schedule a visit to experience Kenzington Academy firsthand and meet our educators.
